Faculty FAQ

How beneficial is the Paste from Word tool?

Directly copying and pasting from Word can cause windows to close, browsers to crash, tests to end before they’re completed, and discussion posts to disappear. This is a well-know problem with using content copied from Word to a Blackboard page (or any web page). This is not a Blackboard problem, but the Paste from Word mashup tool in the Bb Visual Editor minimizes the problem.

The Paste from Word tool may need to be enabled in your course Control Panel (below course menu) > Customization > Tool Availability. Click the check box next to “Word” and save. Then copy your text from Word, click the Mashup button in the Blackboard Visual Editor, select Paste from Word, and paste your text into the window that opens. Click OK.

What's needed from me for the review process if I'm teaching online this semester?

All current online instructors should refer to the OTC Online Course Development Review and Delivery Review. Both resources are found on the Course Development Webpage and on the Blackboard site OTL-FAC-CTR: FACULTY CENTER FOR OTC ONLINE under Reviews. If a course you are teaching is selected for spring 2013 review, you will be contacted by OTC Online to complete the instructor portion of the forms.

How were the Online Course Development and Online Course Delivery Review Documents created?

An Online Review Taskforce comprised of online faculty, staff, and administrators from the OTC Online Committee finalized the review documents that include components of the Blackboard Exemplary Course Program Rubric, Chico State Rubric, and Quality Matters Rubric. Additional online faculty were selected to provide feedback on the review pilots.

What can I do if I have an interest in becoming a trained reviewer for a future semester?
